Sawa’s Journey into the Digital World Begins

How can an online platform become a genuine space that represents women, their products, and their stories?
This question marked the beginning of a series of hands-on workshops designed to help participants enter the digital world with greater confidence, improve how they present their products, and communicate with customers.
At Sawa, these workshops were more than training sessions. They were spaces for experimentation, learning, and working together.
Women came together to discover new ways to showcase their products and use digital tools to support their businesses through simple, practical steps.
The training was delivered in Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Fayoum, and Beni Suef, with the participation of 50 women artisans. It was carried out through a collaboration between the National Council for Women and the United Nations Population Fund, and implemented by Hona Designs.
The training connected traditional crafts with the digital world through practical applications that helped participants improve how they showcase their products and manage their businesses with greater organization and independence.
The workshops covered several key topics, including:
• Mobile Product Photography
Participants learned the basics of lighting, choosing backgrounds, coordinating colors, and taking photographs that present the details of handmade products more clearly and professionally.
• Artificial Intelligence and Content Creation
Participants explored AI tools for writing content, developing marketing ideas, and enhancing product photos and their backgrounds.
• Digital Marketing and Pricing
The sessions introduced the fundamentals of marketing through digital platforms, as well as how to calculate product costs and set prices in a way that protects profit margins and supports business sustainability.
• Online Store Management
Participants practiced uploading products, writing descriptions, and managing orders through the project’s online store.
• Customer Management and Sales Improvement
The workshops focused on communicating with customers, responding to inquiries, improving the sales experience, and building trust with the audience.
• Supply Chain Fundamentals
Participants learned about the stages a product goes through from production to delivery, and the importance of organization and planning for business continuity.
The training ran from November 25 to December 17, 2025. It included practical sessions, training materials, hands-on exercises, and visual and written content created during the workshops.
Through this experience, participants gained more than technical skills. They began to see their products and businesses from a new perspective.
They took their own photographs, wrote their own content, and gave their products a stronger presence in the digital world.
